New algorithm for graph editor yEd
The developers of graph editor yEd have released a new version of the Java-based tool, yEd 3.11, which includes a new algorithm for radial layouts that places nodes in concentric circles. Support has also been improved for importing group nodes from Excel spreadsheets.
yEd includes a number of tools for creating graphs and charts, with elements able to be arranged manually or placed automatically according to various parameters; these are designed to quickly bring order even to large graphs. The application can also be used to create flow charts and mind maps and operational processes, networks and other systems can be represented graphically.
Charts can be exported from yEd in a variety of formats, including PDF, SWF, SVG, EMF, JPEG, GIF and PNG and as an HTML image map. yEd 3.11 is available for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows and can be downloaded free of charge from the project's web site.
