The H Community Calendar presents the coming month's events in various open source, development, Linux, Unix and other communities, from multi-day conferences to user group get-togethers.

4-5 February - FOSS - Brussels, Belgium

Who: FOSDEM
What: FOSDEM 2012 – the biggest free and non-commercial event organized by and for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet.

8 February - Linux - Reading

Who: Silicon Corridor Linux User Group
What: A regular social evening for Linux users in the Reading area.

8 February - Scala - London EC2R

Who: London Scala Users' Group
What: Spring in Scala – a talk by Jan Machacek, comparing Scala to the other languages on the Java platform, looking at how to see and apply the patterns of functional programming, and exploring the principles of type systems.

10 February - jQuery - Oxford

Who: White October and jQuery
What: jQuery UK Conference – a day of talks from six jQuery team members and four industry experts.

11-12 February - Accessibility - London EC1V

What: Official RNIB Accessibility Hackathon – The RNIB are working with the London Android User Group to provide a night of making accessible hacks and learning more about accessibility APIs.

What: Hacker News London meetup – Joel Spolsky, co-founder of Stack Overflow, is the headline speaker at the February event.

23 February - Hardware - London WC1X

Who: Open Source Hardware User Group
What: Event #16 Manufacturing – three talks about the first-hand experiences of taking an open source hardware design from being a project to a product: "From Breadboard to Finished Product", "Arduino Shield: From Design to Manufacturing" and "Design and Build of Modular RepRap Electronics".

What: PHP UK Conference – the 7th annual UK PHP conference has expanded to a two-day event to accommodate the growth of the PHP community and PHP development industry.

20-22 March - LISA - Edinburgh

Who: FLOSS UK
What: Spring 2012 – the annual Large Installation Systems Administration (LISA) conference, the UK's only conference aimed specifically at systems and network administrators. As well as the technical talks, the conference provides a friendly environment for delegates to meet. It is being held in conjunction with Puppet Camp 2012.
