Qt logo The Digia developers have announced Qt 5.0.2, the second patch release for December 2012's Qt 5.0 release, which addresses issues that Qt users have been having porting their applications to the newest version of the Qt toolkit. The release comes days after the publication of the first alpha of 5.1, but unlike the alpha, the patch release adds no new features.

It does though add two new binary installers for Visual Studio 2012 with ANGLE and Visual Studio 2010 with OpenGL. The release package also sees Qt Creator updated to version 2.7.0. Developers will find that it is now not only possible to skip configuring modules when building Qt themselves, but also that they will be able to statically link the Qt libraries with their applications without problems.

There are also fixes in qtbase, qtdeclarative, qtwebkit and qtmultimedia. Qt 5.0.2 maintains forward and backward source compatibility and the developers offer a Known Issues page for checking before submitting a bug report. Source and binary packages are available to download from the Qt Project and are published under the GPLv3, LGPLv2 or under a commercial licence.
