Apache OpenOffice logo The Apache OpenOffice project has put out a call for volunteers to join its Quality Assurance Team. Ahead of the Apache top-level project's next major release, Apache OpenOffice 4.0, the developers say that they "need to grow our Quality Assurance (QA) capabilities to keep up with the output from our programmers."

The QA team within the Apache OpenOffice project is responsible for a number of tasks, such as reviewing new bug reports from users, verifying that bugs have been fixed, and testing new builds of OpenOffice against a testing plan. Other responsibilities include defining new test cases and completing automated regression tests, as well as advising how overall quality and testing effectiveness can be improved.

For those interested in volunteering to help with OpenOffice QA, a set of orientation modules is provided to help users get started. Anyone with questions about volunteering is asked to email the Apache OpenOffice QA public mailing list at [email protected].

The current stable release of Apache OpenOffice is version 3.4.1 from the end of August.
