Apache Traffic Server 3.2 now fully supports IPv6

The Apache Software Foundation has announced the release of version 3.2 of the Apache Traffic Server. The newest version of the high performance caching HTTP/1.1 proxy server includes full IPv6 support, new configuration options for managing inbound and outgoing IP addresses and ports, and many bug fixes and performance enhancements.

Apache Traffic Server 3.2 now has complete support for IPv6, whereas version 3.0 only supported the protocol on the client side. The latest release also allows users to bind any number and combination of addresses and ports for both HTTP and HTTPS.

Key advancements among the many other improvements and bug fixes in version 3.2 include SSL improvements to SNI (Server Name Indication) and NPN (Next Protocol Negotiation), better SSL handling stability and improved performance when proxying to a Keep-Alive HTTP backend server connection. Several stable plugins are now also included with the core software package which is also buildable with all GCC versions 4.1.2 and later, Clang/LLVM 3 and Intel's compiler suite.

Apache Traffic Server was originally donated to the Apache Software Foundation by Yahoo! in 2009 and became a Top-Level Project for the Foundation in 2010.
