Aptosid 2011-02 arrives with KDE 4.6
The aptosid developers have released version 2011-02 of their successor to Sidux. Code named "Ἡμέρα" (the Greek form of Hemera), the distribution uses the current 2.6.39 kernel and KDE 4.6 or XFCE 4.8; it also sees the obsoletion of HAL, replaced by udev, and the addition of initial support for GPT and UEFI booting (allowing for hard drives greater than 2 TB).
Other changes in the new edition are covered in the release notes. Aptosid, like its predecessor, aims to be a Linux distribution based on the Debian Sid branch that contains the latest versions of the Linux kernel, desktop and application software.
ISO images of Aptosid 2011-2 are available in one of four CD-sized images, two "KDE-lite" images and two XFCE images (one for 32-bit, one for 64-bit) and a 2-GB DVD sized image with full KDE supporting 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
