Audacity 1.3.7 beta released

The developers of the open source audio editor and recorder Audacity have released Audacity 1.3.7 beta. The new beta release contains some new features, bug fixes and improvements in program stability. Audacity is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and can be used to import live audio, import Ogg VOrbis, MP3, WAV, or AIFF files, cut, copy and mix sounds together and alter pitch in recorded audio.

New features include an "F11" full screen mode, a high-quality "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" effect and an Audio Contrast Analyzer. Windows users will find that the Windows version now allows sound devices to be opened using the more efficient DirectSound API. Also, some cross-platform and platform specific bugs have been fixed along including two bugs that adversely affected Mac OS X performance.
