Bug fixed Apache Camel 2.9.1 arrives

The Apache Camel developers have released an update to January's major release of the Apache Camel open source integration framework. Camel allows developers to implement Enterprise Integration Patterns that can route messages over channels between different systems. It is designed to have minimal dependencies to make it easier to embed into other applications. Camel originated as a subproject of the Apache ActiveMQ project in 2007, becoming an Apache top level project in 2009.

Version 2.9.1 adds another 109 bug fixes to the 497 issues resolved in Camel 2.9.0's release. Version 2.9.0 reworked the threading of the platform with a simpler API, introduced management annotations for components, and added components to connect with Zookeeper, Amazon's Simple DB, Amazon's Simple Email Service and Solr search and to process files using StAX. It also removed the dependency on Spring JARs for applications wanting to use JMX management.

Camel can be configured from Java, Scala or through Spring-based XML configuration files. It supports HTTP, ActiveMQ, JMS and others as "Transports" for messages, but abstracts them enough that developers can focus on the "Components" which form the actual integration. Apache Camel 2.9.1 is available to download as source code and as binaries for Windows and Unix/Linux from Apache project mirrors. It is also available via Maven 2. Camel is licensed, like all Apache Software Foundation projects, under the Apache Licence version 2.
