CentOS 5.5 released
The CentOS developers have announced the availability of version 5.5 of their free Linux distribution. CentOS 5.5 is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 (RHEL), which was released at the end of March, and includes a number of bug fixes, updates and new functionality.
The latest release of the free Enterprise-class Linux distribution features a number of packages customised by the CentOS developers. as well as new and updated packages. Package updates include version 3.1.1 of the OpenOffice.org office suite, PostgreSQL 8.4 and Samba 3.3.8. Other changes include updates to the wireless drivers suite, such as newer versions of the iwlwifi drivers and the ath9k driver.
As with the previous 5.4 release, the 5.5 LiveCDs (both 32 and 64-bit) are being released at the same time as the main distribution. The developers note that a series of updates have been issued since the release of the 5.5 media files.

. CentOS 5.5 is available to download for i386 and x86-64 architectures, either as multiple CD ISO image files or as one or two DVD ISO images.
