Chrome 15 enters beta, brings revamped New Tab page

Source: Google Google has announced the arrival of Chrome version 15 in the WebKit-based browser's beta channel. Previously only available in the developer channel (aka the Dev Channel), Chrome 15 brings several improvements and new features, including a revamped New Tab page.

According to Google Software Engineer Evan Stade, the New Tab page has been redesigned to "simplify the visual appearance and make it easier to manage your apps, bookmarks, and most visited sites, so you can get where you’re going as quickly as possible". Users can now sync the address bar's Omnibox History, and Chrome Web Store items can now be installed directly from their verified site; information for developers on how to enable inline installation is provided. The developers also note that the JavaScript Fullscreen API is now enabled by default.

Chrome 15.0.874.24 for Windows, Mac OS X and Chrome Frame and 15.0.874.21 for Linux are available to download from dev.chromium.org. Alternatively, current beta channel users can use the built-in update function by clicking Tools, selecting About Google Chrome and clicking the Update button.

The latest stable release is Chrome 14, which included Google's Native Client (NaCl) technology, from earlier this month.
