DAViCal calendar server finalised

With the release of version 1.0, Andrew McMillan, the author of the free DAViCal calendar and address book server, highlights the software's level of maturity. As with previous series 0.9 versions, the server software is suitable for production use. DAViCal shares calendar items and address data with iOS and Mac OS X based Apple clients and also communicates with many other programs including Evolution, Thunderbird, Mulberry and other applications that can operate with the CalDAV and CardDAV extensions of WebDAV.

DAViCal is based on PHP and PostgreSQL. It requires the author's PHP libraries and a web server such as Apache. In version 1.0 (replaced with version 1.0.1 after a small problem was discovered), the author has fixed many minor bugs and revised several details, for instance, related to the LDAP implementation and the interpretation of the constantly changing protocol specifications. No major changes or additions have been made and upgrading to the current version does not require a database update. DAViCal is licensed under the GPLv2 and can be downloaded from debian.mcmillan.net.nz; other download locations and installation instructions are available.
