Eclipse Community Awards winners announced
On the opening day of EclipseCon 2013, the Eclipse Foundation handed out the annual awards to the top individuals, projects and technologies in the Eclipse ecosystem. The individual and project awards were selected in an online vote of peers, while a judging panel selected the winners of the technology awards.
EclipseSource senior software developer Markus Knauer was awarded the prize for top committer, while his colleague at EclipseSource, Jonas Helming, was recognised as top newcomer evangelist. A Lifetime Contribution Award went to Chris Aniszczyk, head of Open Source at Twitter, for his work within Eclipse where, among other things, he is a member of the EclipseCon programme committee, maintainer at PlanetEclipse.org, and committer on orbit and EGit.
The most open project, edging out CDT and Orion, was awarded to EGit, the full integration of the Git distributed version control system into Eclipse. "The Most Innovative New Feature Or Eclipse Project" award went to EMF Diff/Merge, a diff/merge tool for models, which helps developers blend models together.
In the technology awards, the best developer tool went to WireframeSketcher. The essential FindBugs took best plugin for its Eclipse IDE plugin for helping Eclipse users detect defects in their code. Best modelling product went to Obeo Designer and best application went to Chronon 4 "Ops".
