Editing improves in WordPress for iOS 2.9

Source: iOS.WordPress.org The WordPress developers have released version 2.9 of the free WordPress for iOS app. Using the mobile application, users can easily post to, and manage, their WordPress blogs from an iOS mobile device, such as an iPhone or iPad.

WordPress for iOS 2.9 includes an updated content editor that allows users to quickly format text, create bulleted lists and insert links using a new format bar on top of the standard keyboard. To make writing a new blog post easier, the latest version of the app supports full screen editing, giving users more space to write in. Several features introduced in previous versions, such as Quick Photo, have also been updated.

Source: iOS.WordPress.org Like the recently updated WordPress for Android, its iOS counterpart now offers a Read function – which the developers consider to be in beta – that lets users follow other blogs and web sites from within the app. When viewing any WordPress.com blog, clicking the "Follow" button (available in the top admin bar when logged in) will automatically add it to the reader. For blogs and web sites that are not on WordPress.com, users can add external RSS feeds.

The developers say that they are currently in the planning stages for version 3.0, noting that it will be "the biggest update to the WordPress for iOS app since its birth". Their current plan is to streamline the app's overall look based on the features that users use the most.

More details about the release can be found in a post on the WordPress for iOS blog. Version 2.9 of WordPress for iOS is available to download from the iTunes App Store and requires iOS 4.0 or later. The app supports both WordPress.com and self-hosted blogs running WordPress 2.9.2 or higher.
