Firefox 3.1 beta 3 delayed
Beta 3 of Firefox 3.1 has missed it's scheduled release on the 2nd of February and the expected release date has not yet been updated. Mike Beltzner, Mozilla’s director of Firefox development said “At this time, we don’t have a good estimate for when we’ll be releasing Beta 3, as there are some issues remaining which are tricky and complicated, and we want to ensure are fully resolved,”.
The third beta release was originally anticipated in early January, it was delayed until the 26th of January and then delayed again until the 2nd of February. Originally Firefox 3.1 was to be a minor update, until some developers at Mozilla wanted to add some new features to the update including a private browsing mode, similar to that of Apple's Safari browser. According to the bug list, there are still about 15 serious bugs (P1 blockers) that need to be resolved before launch. Included in the list of bugs are a number of problems with Tracemonkey and a name change to "Firefox 3.1 Beta 3" for official branding.
Beltzner advised “We’re working on a revised schedule, which should be posted in a few days.”
