First beta of XBian 1.0 for Raspberry Pi
The first beta version of XBian 1.0, a media centre Linux distribution for the Raspberry Pi mini-computer, is now available. Since the alpha, the developers have made XBMC Frodo 12.2 the default; that version of XBMC contains many Raspberry-Pi-specific changes. SuperRepo, the add-on repository for XBMC, is also included by default, giving users access to over 1000 add-ons that can be installed from within the media centre application.
The developers have also updated the kernel, which should lead to quicker boot times and better stability, and fixed many bugs in the xbian-config settings application, used to configure both XBMC and XBian. The beta also switches to Btrfs, rather than ext4, as its default filesystem.
XBian 1.0 Beta 1 is available to download with installers for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux or as a raw ISO image file. XBian requires an SD card with 2GB or more capacity.
