Developer Thierry Reding has released patches for the Linux kernel that enable the use of 3D acceleration features on Tegra processors. According to Reding, the patches are, however, not fully mature and are based on changes from other developers, in some cases from NVIDIA, which have not yet been merged into the Linux kernel.

Reding has also released test programs and the beginnings of userspace drivers which utilise specific 3D features offered by these graphics cores. Reding is employed by German company Avionic Design, which works closely with NVIDIA. He was also the driving force behind the kernel graphics drivers for the graphics cores used in the company's Tegra 2 and 3 SoCs (which feature ARM cores) that were released last year and merged into Linux 3.8.
