GNOME and KDE 2011 Desktop Summit call for participation
One month after publishing the conference programme, the GNOME Foundation and KDE e.V. boards have announced that they are accepting applications to hold workshops and Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions at this year's Desktop Summit. The conference is expected to bring together more than one thousand core contributors, open source leaders and representatives from government, education and corporate environments. Unlike the keynotes and standard tracks and talks, workshops and BoFs bring participants together to discuss and work on the future of each of the desktops.
Attendees can register a session using the form on the Workshops & BoFs web page. Each session requires at least two hosts and can be formatted as a BoF, team meeting, hacking session, workshop or training/teaching session. The deadline for pre-registered sessions is 3 July.
The 2011 event will take place over the course of a week in Berlin from 6 to 12 August at Humboldt University; it is open to developers, community members and users alike. Further information about the 2011 Desktop Summit can be found on the DesktopSummit.org web site. Those interested in attending the conference can register (login required) online.
