According to a report on The Verge, Google has responded to the decision in the lawsuit between Apple and Samsung by stating that the patents in question do not concern the core of the Android operating system and that some of them are being re-examined by the US Patent Office. The lawsuit over violations of patents and trade dress by Samsung, which concluded on Friday, ended with a landslide victory for Apple. Samsung was fined more than $1 billion and its own patent claims were rejected.

Google also points to the appeals process, suggesting that a revision of the lawsuit might result in a different outcome concerning the validity of the patents in question. In its statement, Google suggested that companies in the current mobile industry "are building upon ideas that have been around for decades" and made it clear that the company does not support the interpretation of patent law demonstrated by the decision in the Apple vs Samsung case.
