Infinispan 5.0 offers more than 45 new features

Infinispan Logo Version 5.0 of the open source Infinispan grid computing platform, code-named Pagoa, has been released. Following six months of development and eight release candidates, the latest version contains over 30 bug fixes and more than 45 new functions; these include a new rehash scheme, support for virtual nodes and a recovery mode following transaction failures. Infinispan 5.0 also now supports the Spring, CDI and OSGi programming models.

Infinispan can be used to construct data grids on the latest multi-processor and multi-core architectures. At the heart of the Java-based application is a JSR-107 compatible cache interface, which can be optionally backed by a peer-to-peer network architecture. According to the project's roadmap, future versions will be able to be used in conjunction with C, PHP or Python via a language-independent server module, rather than just with Java.
