IronPython 2.7.1 adds new modules
The IronPython project has released version 2.7.1 of its open source .NET implementation of the Python programming language. According to the developers, the most notable changes in the new version are the addition of support for unicodedata, csv and ats modules.
Other changes include upgrading the other Python standard library modules so that they match with Python 2.7.2; there are also a number of bug fixes that improve compatibility with CPython. The developers also note that the IronPython Tools for Visual Studio have been deprecated in favour of the Python Tools for Visual Studio.
More details about the update can be found in the release notes. IronPython 2.7.1 is available to download from the project's site; it requires .NET 4.0 or Silverlight 4. Hosted on GitHub, IronPython source code is made available under version 2.0 of the Apache Licence.
