KDE SC 4.4.5 monthly bug fix update arrives
The KDE Project developers have announced the release of version 4.4.5 of the KDE Software Compilation (KDE SC), the last monthly bug fix release for the 4.4 branch of the popular Linux desktop. According to the developers, the fifth and final KDE 4.4 update addresses several bugs and includes a number of translation updates. There are no new features in this release.
KDE SC 4.4.5 provides fixes for issues that could lead to crashing the built-in Okular PDF viewer. Other changes include fixes for encoding and refreshing within KDE's Konsole and alarms in KDE PIM (Personal Information Manager). The developers encourage all users to upgrade to the release.
More details about the release can be found in the changelog and on the KDE 4.4.5 Info Page. Source packages for self-compilation and binary packages for various Linux distributions are available to download from the project's website.
The next major update, KDE 4.5, is expected in August. KDE is licensed under a combination of the LGPLv2, BSD, MIT and X11 licences for core libraries and the GPLv2 or GPLv3 for applications.
