KDE releases January stabilisation update
The KDE developers have released version 4.9.5 of Workspaces, the included applications, and the development platform of the KDE Software Collection. Part of the project's series of monthly stabilisation updates, KDE 4.9.5 includes 36 bug fixes, a number of which affect the Dolphin file manager. The updates to the development platform also impact several applications.
The developers recommend the update for all users running an earlier version of the 4.9 branch of KDE. As with all of their stabilisation updates, the KDE developers expect users will encounter no problems during the upgrade because of the fixes-only nature of the release. More details about the update are provided on the KDE SC 4.9.5 Info Page along with information on how to obtain binary packages of the desktop environment.
KDE is licensed under a combination of the LGPLv2.1, BSD, MIT and X11 licences for core libraries and the GPLv2 or GPLv3 for applications.
