MK802 micro-PC runs Android 4.0 and Linux for $74

Small and inexpensive mini computers have generated a lot of attention in recent months. While the Raspberry Pi started shipping after being delayed by manufacturing problems, the more expensive Cotton Candy device is still only available for pre-order. Now, another contender has arrived in the form of the MK802 micro-PC.
The MK802 features a 1.5GHz AllWinner A10 processor, 512MB of RAM and WiFi connectivity. The AllWinner A10 is an ARM Cortex A8 CPU with a MALI400 graphics processing unit. The device comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 and features an HDMI output that is capable of 1080p decoding, two USB connectors (a micro USB port and a regular port with USB host mode) and a microSD card slot.
The device is available for $74 (£46) and a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu, Debian or Fedora could be installed on it from the microSD card. When using the provided version of Android, users will have to rely on third party sources for applications as Google's Play store is not included.
