Mandriva bankruptcy decision delayed
Mandriva's COO, Jean-Manuel Croset has said that, despite previously saying that the French Linux distributor would file for bankruptcy on 16 January, the decision has been put off until 23 January. The reason, given by Croset in a post on the Mandriva blog, is that a proposal to acquire the company "has been submitted by an external entity".
The major shareholders have been asked to give their position on the proposal and, according to Croset, the company is still waiting for their responses "in written form". The historically troubled Linux distributor is now waiting until 23 January to make a decision on its future. The identity of the external entity that is making the acquisition bid has not been revealed.
