Minitunes released for Mac OS X and Linux

Source: flavio.tordini.org Flavio Tordini, an Italian software developer and creator of Minitube, has announced the release of the first version of his new cross-platform Minitunes music player. According to Tordini, who considers his application to be "just another music player, only better", Minitunes is designed to provide a "clean and innovative interface".

So far, for simplicity, Minitunes features a single playlist and allows users to browse their collections by artists pictures and album covers. On Mac OS X, the application takes advantage of QuickTime, while on Linux it uses GStreamer or Xine and requires Qt 4.6, SQLite and TagLib. Tordini says that future versions of Minitunes will add a number of new features, such as media device support, a search feature and gapless playback.

Tordini is currently charging €9 (£7.44) for the Mac OS X version of Minitunes and a trial version is provided. For the Linux version, the developer is asking for donations. A version for Windows is currently in development and is expected to be released "soon".
