MusE 2.0 revamped with Qt 4 and JACK

Almost two years after the last stable release, the MusE developers have released a new version of the open source audio sequencer for Linux. The user interface of MusE 2.0 has been moved to Qt 4; new features include a new score editor, and the application now uses the JACK Audio Connection Kit for MIDI input an output by default.

The switch to Qt 4 brings more polished controls and the developers have also reworked the MIDI tool dialogs with new functionality. Even though MusE now uses the JACK interface, users can still enable a native ALSA interface by starting the application with the -A command line option. Other features in the new version include graphical automation in the arranger, an optional multiple document interface (MDI) and many bug fixes to improve the stability and speed of the application.

The source code for MusE 2.0 is licensed under the GPLv2 and is available for download from the project's web site. Binaries for Debian- and Red-Hat-based distributions are also available, as are build instructions for Gentoo. More information on the changes in this release can be found in the change log.
