New home for Firefox OS Building Blocks

The new Building Firefox OS web site provides detailed information on all building blocks of the mobile OS interface

Mozilla has rolled out a new web site for its Firefox OS Building Blocks, designed to help developers with the UI design of Firefox OS applications. The web site provides reusable HTML and CSS components and documentation for the user interface elements of the mobile operating system. Developers can also download design stencils and Firefox OS's icons and fonts to help with sketching concepts of their applications.

The Building Firefox OS (BFFOS) web site has been available publicly for some time, but the Mozilla developers say that the content outgrew the original design and that the change will make it easier for developers to discover content and will also allow Mozilla to add new content more easily. With the first Firefox OS phones now available on the market, providing developers with easy access to application building blocks has also become more important, as Mozilla tries to boost the platform's application ecosystem.

The source code for the site, the Firefox OS Building Blocks themselves, and the Firefox OS interface components are available from GitHub. The developers are now working to make the web site compatible with all browsers as currently, only Firefox Nightly users will be able to see all Building Blocks.
