NexentaStor 3.0.0 Community Edition released
The NexentaStor Project developers have announced the availability of version 3.0.0 of their free Community Edition (CE). The OpenSolaris-based (OS134) distribution is optimised for use in virtualised server environments and features support for user and group quotas and improvements to the ZFS file system.
Unlike the other versions, the Community Edition is limited to 12 TB of storage. Version 3.0.0 changes include improved hardware support, in-line deduplication for primary storage and backup, the ability to automatically expand pools and support for easy upgrading to future Community Edition or Enterprise Edition licenses. The Enterprise Edition of NexentaStor is expected to be released on the 31st of March and will feature, for example, commercial plug-ins and High Availability (HA) Clustering.
More details about the latest NexentaStor Community Edition can be found in the release announcement. NexentaStor 3.0.0 CE is available to download as a CD or VMware image. According to the developers, a Xen image "will be available shortly".
