Nomad & Compiz++ re-merge with Compiz

Phoronix has reported on the Compiz conference call that the Compiz++ and Nomad branches of Compiz will be merged back into Compiz. Compiz is a compositing window manager that uses 3D graphics acceleration via OpenGL and provides new effects and features on desktop environments, such as GNOME and KDE. Compiz++ is a rewrite of the Compiz core in C++, along with additional work released in late 2008 and it's future was previously unclear. Nomad is an adaptation of Compiz for use with remote desktops, as Sam Spillsbury recently demonstrated in a video of Nomad in action.

The conference call minutes have been sent out on the Compiz mailing list and provide further details. After Compiz 0.8.0 is released, Compiz++ will be merged into the next release of Compiz as Compiz 0.9.0. Following that release Nomad will also be merged. Once the three have been merged into Compiz the focus will be on bug fixing.

The next Compiz meeting will take place in April of this year.
