Mozilla's Thimble application includes real time programming help

Open Recall is a new space on The H for those things that are too small to package as news but are worth the linkage. Open Recall collates the interesting stories that didn't quite make the cut.

• Linux-powered UAV control stations – Defence contractor Raytheon has won a contract worth $27,883,883 to implement control software for vertical take-off drones for the US Navy. The software is based on Linux and will be installed at the Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland.

• Learn HTML and CSS interactively – Mozilla's Thimble is a web application that aims to teach people HTML and CSS. Thimble shows an editor and the output generated by the code side-by-side. The application is still in the testing stage, but already includes impressive features such as live debugging and programming tips. The finished pages are hosted on Mozilla's site and can be shared easily.
  

• A Mint-branded mini-computer – The Linux Mint project has announced the mintBox, a branded version of the CompuLab fit-PC3 that comes pre-installed with the distribution. The device is available in two specifications starting at $476 (£308) and includes a dual core AMD Fusion APU and a 250GB hard drive as well as HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. The device is roughly the size of a consumer router and can be easily opened to upgrade the RAM and other components. The Linux Mint project will receive "10% of each sale".
