Network Globe American Linux distributor Red Hat has announced that the Open Virtualization Alliance (OVA) has gained 65 new members, a nearly ten-fold increase in membership since it was first established last month. Brocade, Dell, EnterpriseDB, Fujitsu Frontech, FusionIO, Gluster, Groundwork Open Source, MontaVista Software, Univention and Vyatta, for example, are among the group's new members.

Launched in mid-May, the OVA is a consortium committed to promoting KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) virtualisation as an alternative to proprietary solutions. Its members aim to increase the adoption of and confidence in KVM-based options through marketing campaigns and the hosting of industry events. Governing members of the group include HP, IBM, Intel and Red Hat.

Further information about the consortium, including a full list of its members, can be found on the Open Virtualization Alliance web site.
