OpenJFX gets JavaFX testing framework
The JavaFX developers working on OpenJFX have announced JemmyFX, a functional test suite for JavaFX. JemmyFX is based on Jemmy, the UI testing framework used by the NetBeans developers. JemmyFX has extensions that allow JavaFX applications to be tested and Oracle's Richard Bair says that, in addition to testing JavaFX implementations, it should provide developers with tools to test their own applications.
Bair hopes that those contributing code to OpenJFX, the open source version of the JavaFX technology, will be able to provide JUnit unit tests and JemmyFX functional tests to demonstrate the quality of their work and to speed up the adoption of new features. JemmyFX is available from the OpenJDK mercurial system. The OpenJFX project began in November 2011, when Oracle decided to open the previously proprietary JavaFX technology with an eye to seeing it incorporated as part of Java 9.
