Opera quietly settles lawsuit
Opera's multi-million dollar lawsuit against a former employee who, it claimed, had leaked trade secrets to Mozilla has been settled. Details of the settlement are, however, confidential. According to Digi.no Trond Werner Hansen and Opera Software ASA were due to go to court in August, but have now concluded settling the case.
The web browser maker had filed a lawsuit against Werner Hansen seeking 20 million Norwegian Krone (around €2.6 million or £2.2 million) but details of the suit were unclear; reportedly Opera considered tab and search button designs as a basis for them taking the action.
Werner Hansen, who is also a musician, had put a scheduled album release on hold to return to Norway from the USA. In a short statement, on the Tumblr blog where he originally revealed the details of his position, the designer says: "I can get back to focusing on my music and some other projects".
