Oracle Linux 6.3 released

Oracle has announced the release of version 6.3 of Oracle Linux, which it creates by cloning the published sources of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and building its own distribution. This version of the distribution therefore contains all the improvements from RHEL 6.3 and adds several driver updates to Oracle's own Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK).

Oracle Linux ships with both the UEK and a Red Hat compatible kernel. The company's own kernel has received updates to 14 different drivers and the distribution benefits from a wide array of upstream bug fixes. A detailed list of updated packages and new features is available in the Oracle Linux 6.3 release notes. ISO images of the distribution can be downloaded from several mirrors listed on the Oracle wiki and through Oracle's Unbreakable Linux Network.

Update 04-07-12: Several new features have been introduced to the Btrfs code which now supports scrubbing, automatic defragmentation and LZO data compression. The testing and repair tools for Btrfs have also been improved.
