Python updates for 3.3, 3.2 and 2.7

All currently supported versions of Python have been updated in the latest refresh of the Python runtimes. The updates incorporate numerous bug fixes for the most recent 3.3 branch of Python, the final bug fixes for the 3.2 branch and the latest fixes for the 2.7 branch. None of the updates include any CVE numbered security fixes.

Replacing the October 2012 Python 3.3 release which incorporated the first feature changes to the Python language since the language moratorium expired, the 3.3.1 update includes literally hundreds of fixes. These bug fixes can be found in the core, standard libraries, test coverage, build process, tools and documentation. There are no new features in this release. Python 3.4 is in development but is not expected to appear as an alpha release until August, with a final release in February 2014; a number of new features and other changes have been proposed but none have, as yet, been confirmed.

The update to April 2012's Python 3.2.3, 3.2.4, covers a similar range of errors and corrections, but, more importantly, it is the last "bugfix" release for the 3.2 series and developers may want to start looking at Python 3.3. The Python developers' commitment to keep the 2.7 tree maintained is also delivered in a similarly extensive bug fix release, Python 2.7.4. This update replaces April 2012's 2.7.3 release and also comes with many bugfixes also covering core, extensions, libraries, tests, build, tools and docs. The 2.7 branch of Python is in a five-year bugfix-only mode, with Python 3.3 currently being the branch where new features are being introduced.
