RHEL clone Oracle Linux 5.7 released
About one and a half weeks after the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.7, Oracle has released Oracle Linux 5.7, which is based on the sources of the RHEL distribution. Oracle's new Linux clone therefore includes all the improvements of the original, for example, the virtualisation optimisations for KVM and Xen.
As usual, Oracle has included its Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. The company has also provided a kernel image that is based on the RHEL 5.7 sources but includes various changes made by Oracle; however, the kernel that is installed by default is based on the original sources. Further information about the changes Oracle has made, including a list of known problems, can be found in the release notes for version 5.7.
