RavenDB logo After finding and fixing problems with memory usage, work on version 2.0 of document-oriented database .NET-based RavenDB has been completed. In particular, improvements have been made in the area of performance; it is now possible, for example, to use the new bulk insert function to reduce the time required to load large numbers of documents into RavenDB.

The development team has also been able to add a much requested feature: indexes for referenced documents. Profiling options now include cloud and production options and the mechanism for finding and processing errors has also been revised. A detailed list of all changes can be found on the RavenDB web site.

With users having had no new features in the stable version for six months, the team behind RavenDB now plans to provide one every six to eight weeks. Other plans include robust SQL replication, automatic index merges and client support for WinRT, Mono Touch and Mono for Android.

RavenDB is licensed for open source projects under AGPL v3 (with an AGPLv3 exception for open source projects under a different OSI approved licence). A commercially licensed version is available under a subscription model; use within a closed source environment requires a commercial licence. It is available for download from the RavenDB web site and the source code can be found on Github.
