Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 released with improved virtualisation
Red Hat has published the third revision of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, six months after the release of RHEL 6.2. The update brings a range of enhancements for virtualisation, allowing RHEL 6.3 to run guest operating systems with 160 virtual CPU cores and 2 terabytes of memory and, with SR-IOV support for network chips, those guest operating systems can be given dedicated virtual network interfaces.
Also new is support for thin provisioning and improved snapshot capabilities along with expanded hardware support. Details on these and many other changes are available in an article on The H Open:
