Second service release for Eclipse Indigo arrives
The Eclipse Foundation has published the second service release (SR2) of version 3.7 of its development environment. Service releases typically don't include new features, instead focusing on addressing issues found in the previous versions.
Labelled 3.7.2, the update to Eclipse Indigo has fixes for 89 bugs. These include corrections for 13 failures in JavaModel tests under Mac OS X, a regression in preferences, and a number of crashing bugs. Other projects that were part of the Eclipse Indigo release train have also received updates, such as Web Tools Platform (WTP) 3.3.2 which fixed more than 100 issues.
Major releases of the Eclipse platform normally arrive in June each year and, traditionally, there are only two service releases for each version of Eclipse: the first in September and the second in February the following year. At the same time, developers are working on the next version of the development environment, code-named Eclipse Juno; the current development release is Eclipse Juno 4.2 Milestone 5 (M5).
Further information about the second service release, including a list of known issues, can be found in the 3.7.2 release notes. Eclipse Indigo is available to download from the project's site and is licensed under the Eclipse Public License.
