SystemRescueCd 1.5.0 released

The SystemRescueCd developers have announced the availability of version 1.5.0 of their Linux distribution that's configured as a tool kit for administering or repairing an operating system and recovering data after a system crash. The SystemRescueCd is based on the Gentoo LiveCD and the kernel supports a wide variety of file systems including Ext2, Ext3 and Ext4, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS, VFAT, NTFS, ISO9660 and Btrfs.

The latest release is based on the 2.6.32.10 Linux kernel and features updates to several of the included components, including version 2.2 of the Parted text-based partitioning tool and the 0.6.5 release of the gdisk fdisk utility for GPT based hard disks. Support for hard drives with 4k blocks has also been added via version 2.17.1 of the util-linux suite of utilities. Other notable changes include an updated version of the GParted partition editor and version 2010.3.6 of the NTFS-3G read/write NTFS driver.
