SystemRescueCd updated
The SystemRescueCd developers have released the fourth update to the 1.5.x branch of their Linux distribution. Based on the Gentoo LiveCD, the SystemRescueCd is configured as a tool kit for administering or repairing an operating system and recovering data after a system crash. Supported file systems include Ext2, Ext3 and Ext4, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS, VFAT, NTFS, ISO9660 and Btrfs.
The latest update is based on the 2.6.32.13 (standard) and 2.6.33.04 (alternative) Linux kernels and features version 2.2 of the Parted text-based partitioning tool with several patches. Other changes include FSArchiver 0.6.10, Memtest86+ 4.10 and bug fixes related to the pxe-boot-server service.
More details about the release can be found in the change log. SystemRescueCd 1.5.4 is available to download from SourceForge as an ISO image file and an online manual is provided. SystemRescueCd is released under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
