TransferSummit logo This year, TransferSummit 2011, runs from the 5 to 8 September, and as last year, will be held in Oxford's historic Keble College. The open source collaboration and enterprise research forum will feature experienced thought leaders from across the open source community, including intellectual propery expert Andrew Katz, OuterCurve Foundation's Stephen Walli, Canonical legal counsel Amanda Brock, HP open source community expert Martin Michlmayr, Apache Software Foundation president Jim Jagielski and director of the Open Source Initiative Simon Phipps. The forum will be keynoted by James Governer, founder of open source analysts Redmonk, with the title "Open Business and Open Society: The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance".

Three tracks will run through the two days of the conference with an overarching theme of "Open Innovation Everywhere". The Open Innovation track will take a top level look into open source and open innovation and how foundations, infrastructure, licensing, governance and community building all play their part. The Open Development track will focus on the day to day issues of putting open source into use, with an extra focus on its use in the mobile space, and cover accessibility, version control, IP tracking, user engagement and distributed project management. Finally, a Case Studies track will examine real world experience from companies such as eBay and Vodafone and look at what those companies see as the future of the open ecosystem.

Other elements of the event will include a Gala Dinner, Break-out sessions, Bers of a Feather, Open Gadget Playtime, BarCamp Oxford and a number of optional offsite activities (including a chance to visit the dodo next door at Oxford's Museum of Natural History).

Early bird registration is open till 8 July with a £315+VAT academic rate and £600+VAT general rate including accomodation and Gala dinner, rising to £475+VAT and £750+VAT after 8 July.
