Transmission 2.61 moves to GTK+ 3
The developers of the Transmission open source BitTorrent client have released a bug fix update that also adds a hard dependency for GTK+ 3 and several improvements to the GTK+ based edition of the client. Version 2.61 of the tool follows the 2.60 release earlier in the month which added, among other things, support for Apple's Retina display.
The release includes several bug fixes for the Qt version of Transmission, which improve handling of Magnet links and fix internationalisation issues introduced in the last version. A potential cross-site scripting vulnerability in the web client has also been fixed. The GTK+ edition of the client has moved to GTK+ 3 for its interface and therefore requires that version of the libraries to be installed.
A full list of fixes and improvements can be found in the change log. Transmission 2.61 is available for download from the project's web site for various platforms including Mac OS X and several Linux distributions. Binaries and source code for Transmission are dual-licensed under the MIT licence and the GPLv2.
