Version 4.0 of the YAML modular CSS framework arrives
Following more than a year of development work, the YAML developers have announced the arrival of version 4.0 of their open source modular CSS framework. Not to be confused with the "YAML Ain't Markup Language" data serialisation format, this YAML stands for "Yet Another Multicolumn Layout" and provides web developers with tools and templates for creating pages with multi-column or grid layouts without using HTML tables.
The major update includes several changes that its developers say result in a more flexible and customisable grid module, and the form toolkit has been improved by separating the functional styles and theme-stylesheets for visual design. The documentation has also been completely rewritten and new layout demos are included. The developers note that all of the core features are now namespaced with the prefix "ym-" in order to help avoid any conflicts with other CSS code.
More details about the update can be found in the Google+ announcement post. YAML 4.0 (Build 120119) is available to download from the project's site; documentation and quick start demos are provided. Supported browsers include Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer. The YAML framework is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 License (CC-BY 2.0), which allows for both personal and commercial use.
