Webconverger 11 browser-only OS adds Firefox 9

The Webconverger project has released version 11.0 of its open source browser-only operating system for web kiosks. Derived from Debian, Webconverger 11 includes version 9 of the Firefox web browser as well as a number of improvements over the prior 10.2 build.

When booting the distribution, users can now choose other browser chrome options; screenshots of these can be found on the chrome UI options page. The developers note that the update should result in "quieter boots" and that it
Webconverger 11 in action brings "several enhancements" to the Webconverger extension for Firefox, though specific details are not mentioned. Networking interface naming bugs found in the previous build have been fixed and, to make it harder to override the control script, the developers have also made some "security tweaks".

Webconverger was created in February 2007 by UK-based developer Kai Hendry. His company, Webconverger Limited, sells custom-configured versions of web kiosk OS for use by, for example, banks, medical practices and libraries.
