Wine 1.3.19 brings improved Direct3D 9 support
The Wine project has published version 1.3.19, the latest bi-weekly development version for what will eventually become Wine 1.4.
Wine 1.3.19 improves Direct3D 9 / DirectX 9 (D3DX9) support and includes a new sound driver architecture for the Multimedia Device API (MMDevAPI). The debugger now supports the ARM platform. Other changes include better support for relative mouse events in DirectInput (DInput), the addition of more Microsoft Visual C++ (MSVC) functions and various bug fixes, affecting, for example, Windows Vista, the Microsoft Office 2003 installer, CDBurnerXP 3.0 and several games.
As with all development releases, use of Wine 1.3.19 in production environments and on mission critical systems is not advised. Users testing the release are encouraged to provide feedback and report any bugs that they find.
More details about this development preview, including a full list of bug fixes, can be found in the release notes and in the shortlog. Wine 1.3.19 is available to download from one of the project's mirrors and documentation is provided. The latest stable version is Wine 1.2.3, a bug fix update to the 1.2 branch, from mid-April.
Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator) is free open source software that allows users to run Windows applications on Linux and Unix by providing its own native replacements for Windows DLLs.
