Zenwalk GNOME 6.0 released
The Zenwalk developers have released a version of their "Zen computing" Linux distribution featuring the GNOME desktop and applications. Zenwalk GNOME 6.0 includes the 2.6.28.7 Linux Kernel and the new 2.26.0 release of the GNOME desktop environment. Version 2.26.0 of GNOME includes a tabbed interface in Nautilus, the CD/DVD creation tool Brasero, Totem updates and better support for multiple monitors.
Zenwalk GNOME 6.0 includes a number of new features, similar to that of it's Xfce based counterpart. A new simplified installer is included and tuned init scripts, with real time I/O scheduler, shorten the boot time. A new Zenpanel with integrated Disk Manager, Wi-Fi and Wired Network Manager is included, in addition to the new Exaile music jukebox. A "lightweight and optimised" version of OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 replaces AbiWord and Gnumeric in the release. The base package includes Writer, Calc, Impress and Draw. The "extra" package is available via Netpkg and provides Math, Database and Java support.
The GNOME version of Zenwalk is available as a "single CD" edition, unlike the Xfce 4.6 based version, which is available as three separate editions (Standard, Core and Live). More details about the release can be found in the release notes. Zenwalk GNOME 6.0 is available to download now (direct download link).
