Rudolf Marek has announced that coreboot and SeaBIOS can now boot and install Windows 7 beta (build 7000). This is the version of Windows 7 made available in Microsoft's public beta, which is due to close on February 10th.

According to the announcement, all the coreboot patches required, but one still to be committed, are available to download. To demonstrate the open source firmware's abilities, Marek released screenshots and video. In them we see Windows 7 being started and installed on Marek's system, an ASUS M2V-MX SE with 2GHz AMD Sempron.
