openSUSE 11.0 gets a small extension of life
The openSUSE developers have announced that security maintenance for openSUSE 11.0, planned to end on June 19th, has now been given a brief extension. openSUSE 11.0 was released on June 19th 2008 and was originally scheduled to have two years of security maintenance.
The developers say that after "multiple requests" from the community, the SUSE Security and Maintenance Team have moved the end of support date to July 21st, with a final update for 11.0 to be released on that date. This is just under a week after July 15th, the scheduled release date for the final version of openSUSE 11.3. The update and support extension is intended to ease the transition from 11.0 to 11.3.
