Google fixes Pwnium security issue in Chrome

Google has fixed the security issue found in their Chrome browser yesterday. The exploit was discovered as part of Google's new Pwnium competition and netted the security researcher Sergey Glazunov $60,000 as a reward for the discovery and disclosure. The two exploited flaws have been numbered 117226 and 117230, but the details of these bugs are not currently available, in keeping with Google's policy of holding details back until a majority of users have the fix installed. At the time of writing, no other flaws have been found in the competition.

The release announcement for the newest stable version of Chrome also mentions that problems with Flash games and videos have been fixed. Chrome 17.0.963.78 is now available as an automatic update for Windows and Mac OS X. Linux users are advised to update the browser via their package manager.
